School Hours and Daily Schedules

VanDamme Academy is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on school days. (See the calendar for school days.)

Drop-off time is between 8:00 – 8:20 a.m.

We ask that students not arrive later than 8:20 a.m. It is important that your child have enough time to get his books and materials ready for his day, and to greet his classmates and teacher. Students who arrive after 8:20 a.m. will be marked as “late” by the teacher.

Classes begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and let out at 2:35 p.m.

Please note that our dismissal time is five minutes later than in previous years.

Pick-up time is between 2:35 – 3:00 p.m.

A note about lunch: Students are required to bring their own snacks and lunches to school. Microwaves and refrigerators are available for students to use.

Montessori Primary

The Montessori Primary class enjoys an uninterrupted work time from 8:30 until 11 a.m. During this time students may have their snack if they would like to.  Students then engage in outdoor play, read aloud, and lunch until 12:45 p.m.  They return to their Montessori work until dismissal at 2:35 p.m.

Outdoor play, read aloud, and lunch make up the next hour and a half, until 12:15 p.m.

The K-1 students return to their Montessori work until 2:05 p.m. They finish the day with a second play break until dismissal at 2:35 p.m.

Elementary and Junior High

Elementary and Junior High classes range from 45-minute to 90-minute periods, depending on the subject.

Elementary students have a 15-minute break during the morning. All students have an hour for lunch and recess in the middle of the day.
